The first time I came across a Beauty blender I said ” A piece of sponge” Bwa ha ha ha.
And then it took over the world in no time.
One thing about the beauty world is the more you ignore something, the more popular it gets, chances are the more you want itΒ Unknowingly.
Still not able to spend so much on piece of sponge I went to its Dupes aka Forever 21 Makeup Sponge.

Forever 21 Makeup Sponge

Price : Rs.269INR ( $4 )

How the original beauty blender works: You are supposed to keep it under running water. It changes the size after coming in contact with water and then squeeze out the excess water. It will be extremely squishy and soft to touch. And it is soft when you are blending the product on the face. It will blend the products like pro, giving the natural finish.

My experience with Forever 21 Makeup Sponge :

This is my third Forever 21 sponge and the most reliable one. The first one, I swear it bounced off my face. It was hard and smelly. The next one looked and felt better but that met a tragic end. It got caught onto something and died. Then came this, it’s a latest one from the Forever 21 sponge collection and looks almost like the original beauty blender.
How this Works : The one I have currently is in the tear duct shape, half Pink half Black. Looks almost like the original beauty blender. And it came in a sealed plastic zip lock bag. It does not double up or change the size when it comes in the contact of the water. It is not the squishiest one, but it’s not hard either. It’s gets damp enough once you squeeze out the excess water. I dot the foundation on the face and dab/tap this on the face. If you have seen enough YouTube videos you will do the blending naturally. Very surprising but true. This will be able to reach every corner of your face due to the shape it has. The sponge absorbs extra product, blends the product well, does not allow caking up and gives a natural look. Also I feel the product be it foundation, BB cream, blush or the powder it adheres to skin much better and making the makeup stay longer. Which is a huge pro incase if you have a oily skin.

Cons: Girl this piece of sponge is high maintenance. Needs to be washed after every time you use, and dried..phew. It dries fast though.

Now I am not the best person out to their explain this much, I don’t have much knowledge on the makeup tools either. But I can say that “This Piece of sponge gives a natural finish which every one of us wants”. Get it if you like it, as a practice material or if you are not willing to shell out that much on a piece of sponge or just because it is cute. Get it.

Do you have this? Do you have the original beauty blender?

  2. I think beauty blender is overhyped.. it is just a fancy shaped sponge.. u can use any other sponge available in local market honestly..having said the above i wud love to try a BB.. may consider a dupe like this one from F21.. Thanks fr sharing πŸ˜€

  10. Swathi would you suggest this to the real techniques sponge?

    1. I have never used a real techniques sponge so I really cant compare. I have read a compare post 2 years ago and they said RT is way to go. But the quality of this has increased a lot compared to what it was 2 years ago. It works fantastic still I would say RT tops this as RT is soft.
