Kurta: Tips on how to style them !!

Hi All 🙂

As my mind is wandering it seems to be focusing on one thing. Which is My Mum’s Kurta. The earthiness of the design, the simplicity of the Kurta has managed to captivate my mind. It happens to be one of the favorite Kurta of  my Mum’s, or I must say One of the favorite from her Biba’s kurta for women.

The Kurta’s are that one piece of clothing which is comfortable and chic at the same time. Be it as a homewear, office wear, college wear or even for your mall trips. Well fitted kurtas never goes out of fashion. There’s no denying that, there is nothing better than the crisp breathable cotton kurta’s for a daily wear. I always call the kurta over leggings/salwar a classic. Not because it is old and not very appealing, it’s because the well fitted Kurta just ads to the charm and it’s evergreen.

Some of the styling tips/options on how we can pair the Kurtas:

Fitted Kurta with the leggings: You can either wear a matching leggings or the contrast one . Mum’s personal favourite is wearing a long straight fitted kurta’s with leggings.

Kurta’s with Palazzo pants: A wide legged Palazzo with the Kurtas. Yes please!!! This style seems to be everybody’s favourite including celebrities. You can’t ignore the chic quotient a palazzo pants adds to the entire outfit. For office/College you can choose a cotton material and for functions you can go for the silk materials.

Kurtas with Patialas/Dhotipants/Salwars : The classic way but a never dying one. I would say go for the shorter kurtas when going for patialas/Dhotipants/Salwars. So that it brings out the best of the bottom wear as well as your kurtas.

Kurtas with Jeans/jeggings : Whether the Kurta’s are Straight, Asymmetrical, printed or the solid coloured one, you name it and you can pair it with the Jeans/jeggings.The Asymmetrical/highlow length Kurtas are trending right now.

The corporate look : Who says you have to wear only the western formal outfits to office or office meetings. The collared Kurtas with leggings are equally chic and powerful. Pair it with your formal heels or pumps, there is no stopping you girl!!

Extra Extra Extra !!!

The mass favorite seems to be kurta is paired with the leggins/patialas. If you want to jazz up your routine, if you are bored with the normal Kurtas you can go for the asymmetrical ones I mentioned. You can even accessorize kurtas with scarf/shawl for office or simply any occasion.

If you are a college goer you can wear a short jacket over the kurta, a mirrored jhola and those oxidized jewelry to accessorize the look. You can even go for the Kurta’s in Liva materials , a fabric which is high in quality and made with natural cellulosic fibres. I find them quite lightweight and breathable. Making it perfect for the daily wear.

Oh I mentioned Biba right? Biba is one of the well know Indian brands when it comes to kurta
for women. They have kurta’s in varity of styles and lengths to suit your lifestyle. The styles, the bottom wears, the assymetrical ones I mentioned under the styling
tip, can be found under one brand which is Biba. Entered a Biba store? Checked out their collection? If not please do . I guarantee you that you will fall in love with atleast one piece if not more.

Bottom line Kurta or shirts, pair it right and wear it with confidence 🙂 All the best

Do you like Kurtas? Any other pairing options you have in mind?
